NATE TAIT EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Nate Tait Educational Scholarship Fund was developed by
The E.R.A.C.E. Foundation specifically for non-profit educational
organizations throughout America working to significantly
bring together races in their local communities. Our goal
is to identify, assist and promote these schools because of
their commitment to the cause of racial reconciliation. Assistance
may be provided in the form of school grants or individual
student scholarships. ERACE is currently sponsoring a student
through a scholarship opportunity at New Hope Academy elementary
school in Franklin, Tennessee.
The Nate Tait Educational Scholarship Fund was established in memory of the late Pastor Nathel Tait, father of dc Talk's Michael Tait. Growing up in the heart of Alabama, Nate Tait was a first-hand witness to racial discrimination in all shapes and sizes. His great-grandfather was even killed by the Ku Klux Klan. But Nate was known for his love of people, and throughout his lifetime he opened his home to people of all races and nationalities. You can see a clip of Nate Tait on our video page.
NEW HOPE ACADEMY
New Hope Academy is an independent non-profit elementary school
based in Franklin, Tennessee. The school first opened its
doors to its first students in September of 1996, servicing
families from both the lower income and middle class local
communities. With a set ratio of students from varied economic
and ethnic backgrounds, New Hope Academy is committed to an
enrollment that is economically, racially, and culturally
diverse. Forty to fifty percent of the students come from
low-income families. New Hope has intentionally created a
culturally diverse student and faculty population, which in
turn impacts the community at large with a message of true
racial reconciliation. Additionally, New Hope Academy has
one of the most unique and comprehensive academic programs
in the state of Tennessee.
